Branding for London interior design consultancy Ink Associates. Using one colour of ink - which is key to both the name and the brand - a considered, professional and crafted suite of material was created directly referencing their working methods.

Info

Bespoke illustrations created in collaboration with Ink Associates to fulfil specific offerings in the Adidas concession at Harrods. Focusing on specific high-end Adidas football boots and cricket bats, a technical body-mapping technique was developed to represent not only the technical aspects of the products, but the beauty of them as well.

Info

Niche skate brand Voodoo Boards asked us to create a range of boards that were a reaction to the expected graffiti and grunge styles associated with the culture. We used crisp simple colours and stripped back all embellishments. This resulted in designs which were considered, restrained and utilised a series of commissioned illustrations.

Info

Federal Tyres required a brand proposition for the UK wholesale market. After taking the briefing, we developed both the sport heritage of the brand and the absolute quality with which it is associated. The Mark of Excellence was thus created and a new print campaign was rolled out aligning the brand and reintroduced it to its customers as a brand gaining momentum and drive.

Info

PR agency Weber Shandwick asked us to brand an event promoting Welsh Lamb held at Odette's in Primrose Hill. We evoked the feel of buying meat from a traditional butchers, using sandwich boards and custom stamps to add a more down-to-earth feel. Information packs were paper-wrapped, as were the Welsh Mints treats for guests to take away with them.

Info

Having developed a regeneration strategy for the magnificent Gaskell House, RACE briefed us to design and produce a bespoke investment document.

With research carried out at the John Rylands Library, we were able to source first editions of Gaskell's works. From these we referenced binding techniques, illustrations and typography which were all used in the creation of the final hand bound document.

Info

Run are a new marketing consultancy who asked us to create their branding. During our research and briefing process, one mantra became clear: that Run help paint pictures for their clients. Taking the idea of paint and combining it with the name Run, we designed a simple but interesting identity which can drip as much as it needs to...

Info

Power up is an evening class held at St Monica's. With budgets tight we were asked to create posters to promote the course. The design follows on from the 'Speak up' campaign, and with a view to costs we printed just one colour onto fluorescent paper. This guaranteed not only daylight visability to viewers, but a full night of advertising as well as the paper glowed through the night hours.

Info

Mandarin is a strategy and people development consultancy that specialises in helping organisations, teams and individuals gain absolute clarity on who they are, what they want to achieve and how they can achieve it. Bespoking interventions for each client, their branding needed to advocate this tailor-made ideology.

The name was directly inspired by the monarchist days of Vietnam, where Mandarins advised the Emperor on the entire spectrum of his reign, from war strategy, to economics, to culture and politics. Mandarins could come from any walk of life within society, and were selected on merit through an examination process.

The shapes that underpin the branding are representative of the area of a venn diagram where Mandarin, its client and their business overlap. These shapes then move in a state of flux, as they constantly readdress and balance each other out.

A suite of imagery was captured to reflect the origins and inspirations of the business.

Info

As part of Stoke-on-Trent's drive to bring in investment to the area, we were commissioned to create a brochure to communicate the area's many business benefits. With an established brand in place, the brochure was designed and created to emphasise Stoke-on-Trent as it is today; modern, competitive and foward-thinking.

Info

London based photographer Matthew Hall who has his work featured in such publications as NME, The Independent and the Guardian approached us to create the identity for his business, MBH Photography.

Inspired by elements found on a camera's lens, the monochrome typography is accented with the orange focusing point. This orange accent is then used as a subtle branding device across stationery, digital applications and watermarking photography for copyright purposes.

Info

The contemporary Thai restaurant Chaophraya asked us to redesign their family of menus; à la carte, set, and wine list. Taking inspiration from their approach of creating traditional Thai cuisine with a modern twist, we commissioned illustrations of Thai orchards. These illustrations married silhouettes of the flowers with a linear, graphic style.

The menus were screen printed by hand on to canvas, giving a tactile feel, and lined with contrasting colours inspired by the orchids.

We were briefed with aligning the brand and all its output to adhere to this idea. Over the years, Bright had expanded into new areas and in fact now has three distinct departments. A hierarchy needed to be implemented as well as consistent guidelines to streamline all output. To introduce the final, aligned, proposition to Bright and its staff we created a brandscape video. This video is now used to introduce themselves to new clients, perfectly outlining who they are; anything but a standard accountants.

Working in a variety of sectors - sixteen in total - for over sixty years, Austin-Smith:Lord have a vast portfolio. We were approached to bring their work together in a document that served two purposes: to collate all their projects and secondly as a way to demonstrate their strength in depth in each individual sector. To emphasise this, rather than assemble their entire body of work in one volume we created a book for each sector, each still with substantial content. An abstract spectrum of colours as varied as the sectors themselves were selected to define each volume, with the title and branding foiled in white on the covers and spines.

Info

Austin-Smith:Lord have a rich history and have garnered considerable accolades as a global architects. But over time their brand has moved in several directions, and these meanderings have clouded their market positioning over time.

By embracing the structure of the three dimensional world in which Austin-Smith:Lord works, we created a visual framework that was then applied in two dimensions; across both print and digital applications.

Info

Valve and Balance is an e-commerce brand selling all hardware related to the balancing, fitting and repairing of tyres. After receiving the brief, through research we learnt the very nature of balancing a tyre involves setting the correct angle of camber. From this knowledge, we used the angle of the 'v' to tie up and influence all aspects of the brand. It implies forward movement, momentum. And when used in typography and application creates a unique and dynamic feel.

Art direction of product photography was also key. Using the angle, all products are photographed with precision and consistency.

Info

Boux Avenue is a new lingerie brand created by Dragons' Den's Theo Paphitis. Working in collaboration with Ink Associates, who created and rolled out the interior concept, we created the brand inspired by quintessential hotels of the Art Deco movement. The brand was implemented instore, online, and across all merchandise. As well as covering traditional applications: packaging, stationery, ticketing and apparel, the brand has also been rolled out across an innovative digital POS system.

Info

Having successfully relocated key staff members both nationally and internationally for clients such as Siemens, relocation consultant Anna Lorimer approached us to name and brand her rapidly growing business.

In a heavily corporate landscape, it was deemed necessary to  indicate a caring human presence was behind the business and to move away from generic corporate imagery, thus guaranteeing differentiation.

The identity was simply a rethink of a common packaging symbol, and the rest of the brand followed suit, twisting conventional packaging iconography to communicate and carry information.

To launch the brand, Handled with Care posted bespoke packaged Egglings to CEO gatekeepers, simultaneously delivering the most delicate of objects and also leap-frogging the standard corporate mail-outs.

Info

Creative Support have been providing personalised support services since 1991. They do many great things for many great people, but were struggling to communicate the values of their organisation.

Directly referencing service users' artwork – the visual output of the organisation's positivity – we created a broad new colour palette to represent the overwhelming vibrancy of Creative Support. This palette forms the foundation of the brand and is used to communicate specific messages, or simply to act as a visual glue to tie all applications together.

Info

Having enjoyed Aumbry's wares for some time, we were asked to look at potential solutions for a flexible, regularly changing menu, which still retained and reflected the qualities synonymous with the restaurant and its food.

A new marque was proposed that elegantly sums up Aumbry's heritage both literally and gastronomically. The menu is the beginning of the diner's experience, so these had to be special. We decided to produce hand-made bespoke menus produced for both food and wine, echoing the quality and craft of the food.

Info

Developers of Content Management System 'Squeezy', Cognitive Twist are a web application and development team. As a company who are doing incredible things digitally with finesse and thought, they asked us to execute these qualities in a brand which was both flexible yet solid, just like their sites.

The twist comes in the 'g', which twists back into itself and portrays an endless spiral of ideas. Focusing on the infinite flow of thought, this device is used to create a unique symbol for Cognitive Twist, with ever changing colours and combinations illustrating the ever changing nature of their business.

Info

Speak up is a new range of language courses at St Monica's which we were asked to promote. A simple yet eye-catching solution was found in the colours of each country's flag. This was coupled with graphically highlighting the crossover between the English name of the course and its corresponding translation.

A tree and its star prefaced our best wishes for Christmas 2011.

Commissioned by Mill Co, we were briefed to develop printed material that communicated the qualities of Altair; an architecturally led development created by Ian Simpson Architects.

The brochure featured an unusual format, was printed on an ultra-white stock, and had careful attention taken with the design details to echo the building's ethos and finishing techniques.
